May 2008: Megan Uribe

“I teach fifth grade, all subjects.

My favorite subjects to teach are Social Studies and U.S History.

It’s important for the kids to know how our country was founded and where they come from.

I want the kids to know that it is always important to do their best, that every assignment makes a difference.

Any child can learn by providing a caring environment. One where there is mutual respect. Which means that, rather than demanding respect. I am the teacher, you are the student. I command respect by treating them with respect.

The most important thing a parent can do for a child is to show that they are interested in their child’s education.

I’ve been teaching fifth grade for ten years. I truly love the teaching profession.”
