What I like the most about teaching is seeing the spark in the student’s eyes when they master something they didn’t know they could do. Watching them grow and learn over the course of the years, it’s really amazing.
In order to make learning fun for my students we do games, groups, and all kinds of different activities that they can participate in to learn things in different ways, to keep them engaged and excited about learning.
The advice that I would give parents is to be involved in your child’s education. You’re their best advocate. Ask questions, make phone calls, and visit their classrooms.
Something I like to remind my students of throughout the year is that we’re all different, we’re all special, we all have different talents, and that’s what makes the world an interesting place.
My name is Jana Christenson, I teach at Hort Elementary School and I am teacher of the month.
